Pay range - $14/hour

We are currently seeking 8 Patient Service Representatives for one of our local clients. These are long term, temp to hire roles with a great chance for you to demonstrate your work ethic and abilities in an office environment. You'll be expected to go through about 8-10 weeks of paid training, and learn quickly all the aspects of this new role. This includes terminology, computer systems, specific rules and protocols, and more. This is a production based role, meaning you'll be measured both on the quality and quantity of your results.

What is this job?

You'll be receiving calls from various parties who have questions regarding a patient medical invoice. This could include an individual patient, a phsyician office, an insurance company, an attorney representing a patient's needs or questions. There's a variety of scenarios that may play out, which you'll be trained on before hitting the phones live.  You'll learn basics on medical terminology (for understanding content), medical billing, HIPAA, and more all during an 8 week training program.  Part of that training will include shadowing with other experienced reps on how to handle various scenarios and how to escalate more complicated issues.  Our client is looking for compassionate, focused, and mature individuals who can work with these callers who may be experiencing any level of stress related to existing claim (or more) - i.e. they may be ill, be under financial duress, etc.  Claim types may vary vastly from as basic as an annual visit/physical to complex radiologic or plastic surgery claim.

Position Description:

  • Review, research, and re-invoice unpaid medical claims compared to policies.
  • Correct errors which may exist, take corrective action as needed.
  • Assist with reconciling AR logs and assist with resolving old debt
  • Determine if billing issues exist and work with all parties via phone and email to help resolve outstanding receivables issues.
  • Research and review aging log for older, out of date, missing payments
  • Use computer database to update client/patient records, maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times.
  • Assist co-workers and managers in other departments (ie Customer Service) as needed

Training hours: 8:30am and 5:30pm, Monday through Friday (8-10 weeks)

Working hours: (after completion of training period) 10:30am to 7pm, Monday through Friday

Requirements:

  • Experience using MS Excel and MS Word in a business setting (be prepared to speak to what you've created or worked with). You'll need to be able to speak to callers and enter information into computer systems simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn and participate in classroom and hands-on training for new content
  • Customer service skills/mindset
  • Critical thinking skills to analyze and make sound decisions
  • Verbal communication skills required.
  • History of being early for work consistently
  • High School Diploma or GED required
